12/13/16 Annika:
We finally found a strong, effective way to hold the wooden beams and cinder blocks together. They will be put together using metal rods that we will send through the boards into the cinder blocks. We want to make sure that people are unable to break our bench. We were going to assemble the bench today, but we realized that it would be too heavy to carry the whole structure to school. We decided to place the bench in the garden near the baseball field. So on Thursday after school, we are going to bring all the parts to the garden and finish it. Since it's supposed to rain Thursday afternoon, we will probably cover it with a tarp.

12/5/16 Katie:
Today, Whitley and I, with the help of Mr. Moody, cut the wood to 6 feet 6 inches. This way the bench will be a length of 5 feet with 3 inches sticking out on each side of the cinder blocks. After cutting the wood we sanded each piece so it was smooth with no sharp edges. We used an electric sander, given to us by Whitley´s dad. Then we applied a thick coat of primer on all four sides of the wood planks. We waited for them to fully dry, then moved them back into storage.
